National 4-H Science, Engineering, and Technology (SET) Initiative

The SET initiative aims to prepare an additional 1 million young people to excel in science, engineering and technology by 2013. June P. Mead has been invited by National 4-H Headquarters, CSREES/USDA to serve on the evaluation design panel for the National 4-H Science, Engineering, and Technology (SET) Initiative. The overall goals of the 4-H SET Initiative include: (1) focusing on 4-H SET program philosophy, design and implementation; (2) focusing on professional and volunteer development; (3) communicating about 4-H SET, both internally and externally; (4) engaging land grant universities as active partners in working with 4-H to address the needs of the youth across their state through education, research and outreach; and (5) enhancing collaboration and partnerships to improve the quality and increase the use and awareness of SET through youth development programs.
