Overview
The NYS AYD Partnership is introducing a newly Revised AYD Curriculum. The original AYD curriculum (developed in 1991), a 28 hr youth worker training, has been revised, updated, infused with current research and shortened to an 18 hour training model. Building on the original AYD concepts of positive youth development outcomes, Services/Opportunities/Supports (SOS), youth engagement, adultism, the new training includes new activities, handouts and an additional section on adolescent development and social identity formation. After several pilots and 2 direct trainings conducted by the NYS AYD Team, the first Training of Facilitators (TOF) was launched in November 2006. Four additional TOFs will be offered throughout New York State in 2007.
