The Caring for Quality Project is a new training and support program for family child care providers. Through regular home visits and networking meetings, the goal of the program is to support and connect home-based care providers in order to increase the quality of care provided to young children. In 2005-2006 the program was implemented with 40 providers in Rochester, New York (20 additional providers served in a comparison group). Preliminary findings from the first year of program implementation show an increase in quality among program participants, especially among those with higher levels of participation. In their summary report, Drs. Lisa McCabe and Moncrieff Cochran (Cornell Early Childhood Program) share more first year findings from this innovative family child care program and evaluation.
